The WHY behind Child Therapy International

From a young age, I was always passionate about making a difference in the lives of others, particularly young people who needed support. I had the opportunity to witness and help young people who came to live with our family, many of whom were dealing with emotional or mental health challenges. This experience sparked a deep desire to support and help others, which led me on the journey of qualifying in the mental health field as a Play and Creative Arts Therapist (MA).

As I became more involved in supporting schools, particularly in international settings, both as a school counsellor and Head of Department for Counselling I saw first hand the unique challenges that educators and school leaders face when it comes to emotional support. Many International Schools are located in regions with limited or no support systems in place, leaving staff and students to manage burnout, stress, and mental health struggles without sufficient resources.

One thing I’ve learned throughout my work is that stress is often an inevitable part of life, especially in the high-pressure environments of schools. While we can’t always control the stressors that come our way, the support systems we put in place are something we absolutely can control. The right support systems not only help staff navigate stress but also enable them to be at their best for the students.

This link between staff wellbeing and student outcomes is why I’m so passionate about helping schools address the emotional needs of their educators. Research shows that when staff are supported emotionally and professionally, they are better equipped to foster positive, supportive learning environments that drive student engagement, academic success, and overall mental health.

This realization drove me to create my consultancy which is dedicated to helping international schools build emotionally safe environments where both staff and students can thrive, no matter where they are in the world.

Join Me in Making a Difference

As I continue this journey, I am more committed than ever to supporting international schools in overcoming the challenges they face. If you’re in a school where emotional wellbeing isn’t prioritized, let’s change that together. Schools and educators everywhere deserve the resources to support both their mental health and the wellbeing of their students. If your school is ready to prioritize staff and student wellbeing with expert, trauma-informed support, get ready to join the Waiting List which will be released soon to be the first to access our services when we launch for the next school year (2025-2026).
